Former South African President Nelson Mandela is responding to treatment at his home in Houghton, President Jacob Zuma said.
Zuma thanked the global community for their support, but did not give details about Mandela's condition in his statement, the BBC reports.
The 95-year-old has been receiving intensive care at his home since he returned from a hospital in Pretoria earlier this month.
Mandela was admitted to hospital in June with a recurring lung infection.
The presidency has been keen to reassure that Mandela is no more vulnerable at home than in hospital, the report added.
