A week after a devastating Himalayan storm, Nepali officials plan to impose strict rules and regulations on the trekking industry.
According to the BBC, the new regulations make it mandatory for all trekkers to register before setting out in the Annapurna circuit.
Only properly trained and qualified guides would be allowed to lead treks.
The director general of the Department of Tourism, Tulasi Gautam said that the reason why casualties were so high was because there were many individual trekkers without any guide or porter.
He said that new rules will prohibit trekking without proper guides or porters.
At least 41 people were killed in the country's worst trekking disaster that raised several questions about the procedures.
