New documentary to reveal romantic secrets of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn

A new two-part documentary series by Dr Suzannah Lipscomb reveals the story of tumultuous love affair Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.

Historian Lipscomb, who has written and presents the series, said the lives of Henry VIII and Boleyn have been cloaked in historical myth, romantic legend, cliches and half truths.

She said their turbulent relationship continues to spark fierce debate, so she will be retracing the footsteps of this extraordinary couple, piecing together the fragments of evidence that have survived, to discover what brought the two together and what ultimately tore them apart, the Daily Express reported.

Henry VIII triggered the English Reformation when he broke away from the Roman Catholic Church in order get the marriage to his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, annulled and marry Anne.

In the documentary, 'Henry And Anne: The Lovers Who Changed History', Lipscomb, who specialises in 16th-century history will raise questions and challenge established theories about the couple.

It will also talk about the duo's seven-year courtship, their marriage and, eventually, Boleyn's execution at the orders of her husband.
