A New York Department officer is in critical condition after being shot on duty in the Queens Village section of the city while a suspect has been captured, said city officials.
According to the Verge, the officer was on duty as part of an anti-crime unit when he was shot at around 6:30, said police.
According to a preliminary investigation, the suspect fired at least two rounds into the unmarked car the on-duty officer was riding in and then escaped on foot, said a police spokeswoman.
The officer was rished to Jamaica Hospital Center and was visited by Mayor Bill de Blasio.
A massive manhunt on foot was sparked after a male suspect fled the scene.
