Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of playing divisive politics, saying that the people of the state will give a befitting reply to the latter in the upcoming assembly polls.

"Mahagathbandhan(grand alliance) only believes in development. And we will fight the Bihar polls based on the agenda of 'vikas' (development). BJP talks of development, but plays divisive politics in the entire society, whether it is based on religion or community," Kumar said, while addressing a press conference here.

"And now, differences have emerged over NDA's seat sharing formula and aspirants have been denied ticket. It is their internal matter but people of Bihar are watching and will reply in the upcoming polls," Kumar added.

The term of the 243-member Bihar assembly comes to an end on November 29. Polls in the state will begin on October 12 and ends on November 5. Counting of votes will take place on November 8.
