Jhabua Superintendent of Police, Abid Khan, has ruled out any foul play in the death of Akshay Singh, a journalist with the TV Today Group who died suddenly yesterday in the district.

"Nothing has been found prima facie suspicious in this case. The people, who accompanied him, everybody witnessed how his condition deteriorated. I don't think prima facie we are jumping to any conclusion that he might have died under some different circumstances," said Khan.

Singh, who had gone to Jhabua to interview the family of a slain Vyapam scam accused, suddenly took ill and died after having interviewed parents of a girl who had been found dead near railway tracks, after her name figured in the Vyapam scam.

The journalist was rushed to the civil hospital and later to a private hospital, but doctors failed to revive him. From there he was taken to another hospital in nearby Dahod in Gujarat, where he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured that he will hand over the investigation of Singh's death to the SIT.
