New Zealand has brought all-rounder Dean Brownlie and wicket keeper-batsman Tom Latham onboard for the upcoming three-match one-day international against South Africa.

The two cricketers have been recalled following injuries to key players Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson.

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said that while Taylor is suffering from a calf strain, Williamson is recovering from a wrist injury and hence will skip the opening match in Mt Maunganui on Tuesday, reported Stuff.co.nz.

He added that Latham put up an impressive performance during the West Indies tour with the test team and the warm-up match in Lincoln while Brownlie displayed a strong form on the recent NZA tour to the UK.

Thirty-year-old Brownlie last played an ODI for New Zealand in West Indies more than two years ago and Latham, 22, played against Sri Lanka in November last year.

The New Zealand ODI squad includes, Brendon McCullum (captain), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Dean Brownlie, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Mitchell McClenaghan, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori.
