United States President Barack Obama has reportedly said that the United States will "degrade, and ultimately destroy" the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) through a comprehensive and sustained counterterrorism plan.
In a nationally televised address, Obama said on Wednesday that the campaign would entail "an escalated U.S. military role" and the formation of a broad international coalition to support the Iraqi forces and troops from other allies in countering the ISIS in Iraq and Syria, reported the BBC.
He also said that the U.S. airstrikes that have been targeting the jihadists in Iraq will also be expanded to cover ISIS targets in Syria.
Obama warned that he will not hesitate to take military actions against ISIS in Iraq or Syria because they threaten America's security. He added that the U.S. will hunt down the terrorists wherever they are.
