US President Barack Obama has said that the US could "penetrate" a missile defense system which Iran is buying from Russia if the US decided that it needs to destroy Tehran's suspected nuclear weapons program.
According to the Washington Times, Obama said that they could penetrate their air defense system if they want since US' defense budget is a little under 600 billion dollars and Iran's is a little over 17 billion dollars.
Obama's comments came as he was discussing the proposed sale by Russia of an 800 million anti-missile system that is complicating nuclear talks with Iran.
Obama reiterated that he is pursuing a diplomatic solution to curbing Iran's nuclear program, with a framework agreement having been reached earlier this month.
