Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the government hospital here on Monday to meet those injured in shelling by Pakistani troops from across the Line of control in the Jammu region.
Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Poonch, Jugal Kishore, also visited the government hospital here to meet the injured.
Condemning the bombing of Indian villages, the BJP leader demanded that the people should be shifted to safer places.
Border Security Force (BSF) Director General D.K. Pathak has been instructed to rush to the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir where incidents of ceasefire violations have been reported.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked Pakistan to stop the ceasefire violations after heavy shelling and firing from across the border left five villagers dead and 30 injured.
"Now Pakistan must understand the reality that times have changed in India," he told the media in New Delhi.
Rajnath said the Centre is monitoring the situation, and added the Jammu and Kashmir government is taking steps to provide relief to the residents of border areas affected by shelling.
In one of the worst ceasefire violations, five villagers were killed and 29 injured in heavy mortar shelling and firing by Pakistani troops targeting hamlets and outposts along the International Border in Jammu district today.
