Omar downplays Amit Shah's visit to J-K, says NC will halt BJP

With Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir to consolidate his party's position ahead of the state assembly polls scheduled later this year, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said the National Conference will make all efforts to halt the saffron party in the state.

"It is a very good thing from whichever place he wants to begin. As far as I know, the only party that can stop this is the National Conference and we will do everything possible to make sure that 'abki baari Kashmir ki baari nahi hogi'. The BJP stays till Delhi only," he told mediapersons here.

Shah will be visiting Jammu on Sunday along with the BJP's in-charge and co-in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs.

Shah, who will be meeting the BJP MLAs and Jammu and Kashmir unit office bearers during his stay, is expected to mobilize the party cadres ahead of the state assembly polls.

The BJP, which is making all attempts to widen its base in Jammu and Kashmir, has formulated a 'Mission-44' plan to win majority in the state and form the government.
