The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) embarked a month-long oil and gas conservation campaign, christened as Saksham, in its Corporate Office, as well a work centers across the nation.
The month long awareness drive on fuel conservation was inaugurated by Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which was organised by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and other Oil and Gas Public Sector Unit (PSUs) emphasizing on the need for self-sufficiency in the oil and gas sector.
ONGC has also devised various awareness programs to popularize this energy awareness campaign amongst the employees, their families and the local population in its area of operations.
Pan India campaigns like 'Sit and Draw' and 'Slogan Competition' apart from Cyclothon, Walkathon etc. are being organized at all work-centers of ONGC to actively engage employees.
This campaign aims to create awareness among masses towards judicious utilisation and conservation of petroleum products along with use of energy efficient appliances and switching to cleaner fuels.
More than five lakhs school children and youth will take part in this drive.
This is first time that the Government has changed the campaign format from Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF) to Saksham for creating a strong brand towards fuel conservation.
