The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday said that the Centre's decision to implement the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme may have implications on other sections of the government employees.

"Finally the government has agreed to implement OROP schemes. They have announced that they will constitute a commission to work out the details. Let us wait for the details," CPI leader D. Raja told ANI.

"What are the implications of the schemes on other sections of working people? There are reports that employees in railways are asking for similar One Rank One Pension. There are reports that paramilitary forces will be asking for OROP, there may be other sections also. One has to study the implications of this scheme on other sections of government employees. So one has wait and watch," he added.

Ex-servicemen protesting for the implementation of the OROP scheme called off their hunger strike earlier today, after receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reassurance on OROP but said they will continue with their agitation.
