Oscar-winning cinematographer Andrew Lesnie passes away at 59

Oscar-winning Hollywood cinematographer Andrew Lesnie has passed away at the age of 59.

The Australian Cinematographers Society confirmed "the sudden death of Andrew," according to Australian news outlets, Deadline.com reported.

Lesnie gained fame from his work in movies namely 'Lord of the Rings', 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and 'I Am Legend' among others.

The Aussie-born cinematographer's most recent film was Russell Crowe's directorial debut 'The Water Diviner', which debuted in the U.S. in a platform release over the weekend.
