Re-appointed Australian bowling coach Craig McDermott is reportedly plotting England's demise on his old stomping ground at the Gabba, the scene of the first winter Ashes Test, given that he has taken more wickets at the Gabba than any other bowler except Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.
Brisbane has been a fortress for Australia for a quarter of a century, since the brutal West Indies pace attack terrorised Allan Border's team.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, McDermott has said that he is plotting England's demise at the Gabba by preaching relentless discipline, adding that a bowler is punished if he bowls too short at the Gabba although he can mix-up the pitch with some well-positioned short-pitched bowling.
Stating that he had 'cut his teeth' bowling at the Gabba, McDermott further said that he was fortunate enough to play with some good bowlers like Merv Hughes, Bruce Reid or Warne and built up pressure, although he warned that the Australians could not afford to bowl like they did against South Africa in Brisbane last winter.
McDermott, who mentored Peter Siddle, Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson, further said that the pace bowlers have to bowl well at the Gabba with the spinner and create a lot of pressure.
