The Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) has cautioned the game's administrators not to go ahead with plans to use the pink ball for day-night Tests.

Australia trialled night sessions using the pink ball during the domestic Sheffield Shield season and has mooted hosting a first day-night Test against New Zealand in November 2015.

ACA chief executive Paul Marsh was quoted by Sport24, as saying in a statement on Tuesday that a majority of cricketers are of the view that the concept should not be rushed, as the pink ball softens very quickly, doesn't swing or seam or reverse swing.

They have also said that bowlers will find it very difficult to get batsmen out. Batsmen will also find it difficult to score runs when the ball gets soft.

Marsh said that only 11 percent of players rated last season's Sheffield Shield trial a success, and a quarter felt it provided a fair contest between bat and ball.
