The Pakistan Army has said that it will play its due role in a legal and transparent manner as part of the Supreme Court-ordered Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which will probe Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family's business dealings abroad.
"Corps Commanders' Conference held at GHQ today. Progress of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was reviewed. Forum also discussed Panama Case decision by Supreme Court with special reference to Joint Investigation Team (JIT)," media wing of the Pakistan Armed forces, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in statement.
"The forum pledged that Institution through its members in JIT shall play its due role in a legal and transparent manner fulfilling confidence reposed by the Apex Court of Pakistan," the statement added.
The JIT will comprise of one senior official each from the FIA, NAB, SECP, SBP, ISI and MI will be tasked to probe the assets and how the funds were transferred to Qatar.
The apex court has ordered the JIT to present its report every two weeks before a Supreme Court bench.
The court also ordered Sharif and his sons Hasan and Hussein to appear before the JIT as and when required.
