Jalil Abbas Jilani, the top Pakistani diplomat in Washington, has urged the US to pressurize India into acknowledging Islamabad's economic and counterterrorism proposal in order to ensure peace in South Asia.
According to Washington Times, the Pakistani diplomat says he is optimistic about prospects for peace in Afghanistan after the US troop pullout, but asserts that the Obama administration could and should be doing more to foster peace in South Asia by pressurizing India to embrace economic and counterterrorism overtures from Islamabad.
Jilani accused Indian leaders of showing a "kind of arrogance not to engage" in the past.
Referring to US President Barack Obama's visit to New Delhi last month, Jilani said that the White House's increased attention to India had led to the latter ignoring Pakistan.
