The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Thursday called a meeting to finalise the security plan for the Election Day.
Headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza, the body has summoned the new chief secretaries and inspectors general of police of all the four provinces- Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as per Geo News.
On June 13, in a major reshuffling of the top bureaucracy, the chief secretaries and police chiefs of all the four provinces were replaced.
The electoral body, in the meeting, is likely to hold discussions on the deployment of army personnel at polling stations.
Polling will be conducted on July 25.
The last day to submit nomination papers is June 11. It was earlier scheduled for June 8, but later got an extension to facilitate political parties.
Another change made by the ECP was, extending the deadline to complete the scrutiny of nomination papers from June 14 to June 19.
In case of objection to the decisions of returning officers, the date of filing appeals was extended to June 22.
The verdicts on appeals are to be announced on June 27. The revised list of candidates will then be issued a day later.
The last date for candidates to withdraw their nomination papers is June 29. The same day, the final list of candidates will be announced by the electoral body.
June 30 is when the electoral symbols will be issued to candidates.
