Pakistan Supreme Court on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against country's former ambassador to United States Hussain Haqqani.

Haqqani took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

"Sad that highest court of #Pakistan persists with such antics for local TV news coverage. Such political 'warrants' have not been honoured abroad in the past, won't work now," he tweeted.

Earlier in September 2017, Haqqani's portrait was removed from the Pakistan Embassy in Washington.

He served as Pakistan's ambassador to the United States from 2008 to 2011.
