Pakistan on Tuesday summoned Afghan charge d'affaires on Tuesday to lodge a "strong protest" over a cross-border terror attack at a border post in which two Pakistani soldiers were killed.

Pakistan strongly condemned the cross border terrorist attack from Afghanistan and said there has been an increase in the number of attacks across the Pak-Afghan border where the Pakistani forces are "engaged in strengthening border management".

According to the Dawn, Pakistans Foreign Ministry urged the Afghan government to "take action" against militant elements that have found safe havens in Afghanistan and were using the territory to "target" Pakistan's armed forces.

Citing the murder of a Pakistan consulate employee in Jalalabad earlier this month, the Ministry said that the terrorist groups on Afghan soil pose a serious threat to peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

The ministry also insisted that the Afghan government strengthen border management in order to prevent cross-border attacks on Pakistan forces.

At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and four others injured in a cross-border attack by terrorist from Afghanistan near the Pak-Afghan border in Bajaur Agency on Monday.

"Terrorists from the Afghanistan side attempted an attack on Pakistani posts along the Pak-Afghan border in Bajaur Agency. The attempt was effectively responded killing 8-10 fleeing terrorists while many seen running back were injured," the Dawn quoted media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) as saying in a statement.

The deceased soldiers were identified as Captain Junaid Hafeez and Sepoy Raham.
