The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leadership has confirmed having sent a positive response on a unanimous resolution adopted by the All Parties Conference (APC) to have a peace dialogue.
The TTP is viewing it as a 'positive development', the Express Tribune reports.
TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said Taliban would be willing to enter into a 'meaningful dialogue' after the government announces its policy on the peace process.
TTP Political Commission member Ehsanullah Ehsan said the government will have to take more sincere steps, like convincing the army, to decide on a viable road-map for peace talks.
Ehsan posted a statement on his Facebook page stating Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could play a serious role in the proposed peace dialogue.
However, he denied disclosing contents of both letters.
The TTP leader further said they would only announce their negotiations team after the government has finalised its team.
He also said they will propose the names of members from different sections of society to be part of the process, including media persons, to monitor the possible negotiation process.
