Brother of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz, has said parties protesting against their ruling party would be defeated in the upcoming general elections of 2018.

Shehbaz, who is the Punjab Chief Minister, said on Saturday that those political parties who have been protesting against the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would be defeated in the upcoming elections in Pakistan.

The Express Tribune quoted Shehbaz as saying, "Politics of chaos was poison to the development of Pakistan. The parties pursuing the politics of sit-ins are not against me, but against the progress of the country."

On being asked about the performance of PML-N in the last five years, Shehbaz stated that his party has always worked for the welfare of the people and focused more on development, despite major terrorist attacks in the last few years.

"Protesting parties have not served the people of their provinces faithfully, and are shame-faced today. If they had performed their duties faithfully, they would not be afraid of facing the public," Shehbaz added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan lambasted the "mafia" rule of the PML(N)-led central government, saying that Sharif was creating scams every day and did not believe in democracy.

Also, former Pakistan President and co-chairman of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari announced that his party would not support PML-N in the upcoming elections in Pakistan, due to political differences.
