President Pranab Mukherjee has called upon the youth to eschew violence, saying that peace and security are essential for development.

Addressing a civic reception hosted in his honour at Raj Bhawan in Kohima last evening, Mukherjee said, young Indians, particularly Nagas, inherit a future India, which is developed and progressive in all fields.

He said further benefits of development must be shared equitably among all citizens of the country.

Mukherjee arrived in Kohima yesterday on a two-day visit to Nagaland.
