Manchester City football team boss Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly on trial for the rest of the Premier League season.
Pellegrini is facing mounting pressure at the Etihad Stadium following the defending champions' poor start to the campaign. However, it has also been reportedly revealed that he still has the backing of his bosses and his job is not under threat right now.
But chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak would wait until the summer before deciding whether or not to axe the Chilean, The Daily Star reported.
It means Pellegrini has until the end of the season to prove he still has the backing of his superstar squad and remains the right man to take the club forward.
City have only won once in their last six matches, but their fading title defence is concerning the club's bosses the most.
A club source said that the domestic form is a major concern, adding that now it looks like the team basically has to go on a winning run to put the pressure on Chelsea and at least make a fight of the title battle, otherwise there might be a change.
Pellegrini still has credit in the bank, having landed the Premier League and Capital One Cup in his first season at the helm.
But owner Sheikh Mansour and his right-hand man Al-Mubarak have shown in the past that they are not afraid to wield the axe if results are not good enough, the report added.
