Prime Minister Narendra Modi today outlined the NDA's governance agenda, by saying that the people of India have fulfilled their responsibility by giving the BJP a clear mandate, and now it was for the party to fulfill their aspirations.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) first National Council meet after forming the government at the Centre, which is being held in the capital today to discuss party organization issues.

Modi said, "The people of the nation have fulfilled their responsibility. Now it's our turn. Based on the experience of the past two months, I can say with confidence that we will fulfill the aspirations and expectations of the people very well."

Talking about the rapid pace of change since the NDA government took over, the Prime Minister added that he was surprised that those who did nothing for the past 60 years are asking for his government's report after being in power for just 60 days.

But he reiterated that after the experience of 60 days, he was confident that his government was headed in the right direction.

He also spoke about the changed perception of the world towards India ever since a government with a clear mandate has been elected to power.

He said, "Ever since the new government has formed, the perception of the world towards our country has also totally changed. The whole world is looking at and behaving differently with India. I think the biggest reason for that is this government has come with a clear mandate of the people, and that has impacted the nations of the world."

He added that a clear mandate also puts India in a position to have a decisive say in world affairs.

Elaborating on his reforms agenda, Modi said that every year the BJP can be dedicated towards one social issue, for example, next year could be declared as an energy saving year.
