A person claiming to be a descendant of the Mughal rulers has moved the Delhi High court seeking a stay on the release of on a movie based on the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute, alleging that the movie is "derogatory" towards his ancestors and "defames" his family.
The matter came up for hearing on Wednesday before a single-judge bench presided by Justice Vibhu Bakhru. The court has asked the petitioner Yakub Tucey to present the trailer of the movie as proof to ascertain his claim.
Tucey in his petition claimed that the movie projects "false information" about Shias and Sunni relationship in the period of Mughal rule.
The matter is slated for hearing on March 28.
Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) had cleared the film for release with an 'A' (restricted to adults) certificate. The movie is slated to be released on March 29.
