England batsman Kevin Pietersen has spoken movingly of the death of his childhood friend Jon Cole-Edwardes that delayed his arrival in Australia, and said that it will provide inspiration during the Ashes.
According to the Daily Star, Pietersen revealed that he grew up with Jon since he was a baby and they went on a lot of holidays together, adding that Jon was like his brother.
He added that it was tough to say him goodbye and he did a eulogy at his funeral, while his teammates were already in Australia for the Ashes.
Pietersen also admitted that his mate from back in South Africa will be in his thoughts this week as England attempt to win their fourth successive series, the report said.
