Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius has claimed during the second day of his murder trial that he shot four times through the door of his toilet, where his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was, after he heard a noise behind it.
Pistorius, who is charged with the murder of Steenkamp in the early morning of Valentine's Day last year, revealed that in the moments leading up to the shooting, he crept down the passage from his bedroom on his stumps with his gun in his right hand.
According to Sport24, Pistorius further said that he heard his first floor bathroom window sliding open and shouted for Steenkamp to call the police as he got to the entrance of the bathroom, believing that she was still in bed.
Crying as he recounted what according to him, were the last moments leading up to Steenkamp's deaths, Pistorius also said that he was not sure if someone was going to come up the ladder or out of the toilet and attack him.
The report mentioned that workmen who had been busy fixing up his house had placed ladders on the ground underneath it, adding that after he fired, Pistorius retreated back into his bedroom, his ears ringing from the shots.
Pistorius is also charged with contravening the Firearms Control Act, the report added.
