Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condoled the passing of Nek Chand, the creator of Chandigarh's famous Rock Garden.
"Nek Chand ji will always be remembered for his artistic genius and fabulous creation that is cherished by many. May his soul rest in peace," the Prime Minister said.
Nek Chand passed away from a cardiac arrest at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), last night. He was 90.
His body will be kept in the Rock Garden today for people to pay their last respects. His cremation is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
He was conferred with the Padma Shri in 1984 for his contribution to art.
