Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for his maiden visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday afternoon.
This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 34 years to a gulf nation.
During his two-day visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with the leadership of world's second largest Arab economy on terrorism.
The Prime Minister will seek to boost the economic, cultural and social ties between India and UAE. India would also seek to enhance cooperation in the energy sector during the Prime Minister's visit.
He is also expected to meet and interact with the Indian diaspora.
Prime Minister Modi will reach Abu Dhabi today and go to Dubai on Monday.
India and UAE enjoy strong bonds of friendship based on age-old cultural, religious and economic ties.
