PM must give package for Hindu refugees: Bhim Singh

National Panthers Party (NPP) chief Bhim Singh on Saturday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give a package for Hindu refugees coming from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan.

"Everybody in Jammu and Kashmir is waiting for Modi. Modi tell us what were the delimitations of some of the constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir. Since 1981, why this injustice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir?" Singh told ANI in New Delhi.

"We want to know today from his speech what package he plans to declare for the 50 lakh Hindu refugees from PoK and Pakistan, who have been suffering, rotting and sulking in the state for 68 years since 1947," he added.

The ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP), however, said that the people of Kashmir are expecting a lot from their Prime Minister.

"This programme (visit of the Prime Minister) will give a new fillip to the PDP-BJP alliance. It will be a new beginning and we are expecting lot of initiatives on the socio-political and economic front," the PDP's youth president, Waheed -Ur-Rehman Para, told ANI in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Independent MLA Engineer Rashid has been detained by Srinagar Police after his supporters waved black flags ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.

At present, Prime Minister Modi is addressing a rally at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar.
