Security and strategic analyst C Uday Bhaskar said today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Japan visit is going to have a bearing on the Asian strategic framework as both the countries are concerned by the rise of China.
Speaking to ANI, Bhaskar said, "PM Modi's bilateral visit to Japan is a very important one for both the countries. It also has a larger bearing on the Asian strategic framework. Both countries have a concern about China and the rise of China. One expects that there would be some very high level political consultation between PM Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe."
He also said that in terms of tangible returns India would be looking at Japan for technology investment.
He further said, "Let us not forget that when Japan decides to invest or enable a country, it does have a remarkable success and the best example of that is China. Despite the political and strategic dissonance between Japan and China, the emergence of China as a modern economic power was largely enabled by Japanese investment and Japanese support along with the other countries including the United States."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a five-day bilateral visit of Japan. He is being accompanied by a high-level delegation, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh.
