PM, Sonia congratulate Nitish on Bihar poll win

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi today congratulated Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar for the grand alliance's splendid performance in the Bihar Assembly polls, which gives him his third consecutive term in office.

"Just received a phone call from the Prime Minister congratulating me. Thank you Modiji," Nitish wrote in a series of tweets.

"Thank you Sonia Ji for your congratulatory phone call," he said.

Various prominent leaders, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal, have congratulated Nitish for the grand alliance's performance in the polls.

Nitish thanked both leaders for their wishes.

"Thank you Arvind Ji," he tweeted.

"@MamataOfficial thank you Mamata Ji," he said in another tweet.

As per the latest trend, the mahagathbandhan is leading in 156 seats while the BJP-led NDA is ahead in 76 seats respectively.
