Police arrest top Indian wrestler for role in alleged drug racket

Punjab Police on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of top award winning Indian wrestler Jagdish Bhola, claiming that he was alleged mastermind of an international drug racket.

Bhola was arrested along with four of his associates from Haryana.

Patiala's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hardial Singh Mann said: "We have arrested Jagdish Bhola, who is the main kingpin behind the international drug racket along with his four aides from Haryana."

According to Mann, drugs worth Rs. 700 crore have been seized. They were being shipped to countries like Canada, America, Europe and Australia.

"We have recovered drugs worth more than Rs 18 crore. Out of these, serious drugs like methamphetamine which is known as 'ice' in the international market and commonly known as the party drug were also recovered with the items that are used to make them," added Mann.

Bhola has also served as the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Punjab.
