Blaming the Raigad Police for not filing an FIR in the Sheena murder case in 2012, former IPS officer Y.P. Singh on Saturday said he has never seen such a blunder in police department before and action must be taken against the police.

"Police made some blunders in 2012. FIR must be registered if a dead body has been recovered or even if it was an accidental death it must be reported. I have never seen such a big mistake in the police department. I am sure someone's influence must be involved as such mistakes don't happen generally," Singh told ANI.

"Mumbai Police has done a good job by bringing this three-year-old case, but the investigations are very slow. Also, Peter Mukerjea and his son inspite of knowing the fact that Sheena is missing, they remained silent. They could have reported it to the police or courts. It only indicates that they were hiding something," he added.

In a fresh development in the case, Mumbai Police has included Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) in the remand application stating that Indrani attempted to kill her son Mikhail Bora as well. The remand application also says that there is suspicion of more people being involved in the crime.
