A potential Rafael Nadal-Roger Federer match is driving up prices of tickets for the quarterfinals at US Open, with this edition of the tournament having the finals being played on Monday.
According to Forbes.com, since the Open started, Loge seats for session 20, which will have the first evening men's singles quarterfinal, are up 49 percent to an average of 300 dollars while lower level seats are up 9 percent to an average of 1099 dollars.
The report said that John Isner, who had been playing well, would have given Rafael Nadal a battle in the round of 16, if he had not lost to Kohlschreiber and that would have been a match sought out by spectators.
However, with Isner out, Nadal and Federer seem to be on a quarterfinal collision course for their first-ever meeting at the US Open, the report added.
Despite some grumbling by players and the ATP about the extra day, higher prices suggest that fans are excited about the first ever planned championship match on Monday, the report further said.
