United States President Donald Trump was berated by the Twitterati after he announced the winners for the "Fake News Awards" on the Republican Party website.
While some called him out for making a mockery of the media, others rued the crashing down of the GOP website on which the above-mentioned awards were announced.
"Trump has made a mockery of the press"-reporters. "Fake News Awards are up!" Website crashes. Number one trending topic. Trump playing it like a fiddle," tweeted one person.
"The Fake News Awards apparently are an error just like the 2016 election was," tweeted one person.
One Twitterati applauded CNN for "dominating the Fake News Awards".
Twitter was visibly divided, where a few people supported President Trump's award crash and called it "much anticipated".
The President Trump's fake list included names of media organizations including, New York Times, ABC, TIME, Washington Post, with CNN dominating the scenario with almost four awards.
President Donald Trump's highly anticipated fake awards were released on Thursday morning.
"2017 was a year of unrelenting bias, unfair news coverage, and even downright fake news. Studies have shown that over 90% of the media's coverage of President Trump is negative," wrote the website GOP that had published the list.
Earlier this month, President Trump promised to unveil the award winners on Wednesday, but had delayed them.
