President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday extended his greetings on the occasion of Eid Milad-Un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammad.
In his message on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi, Mekherjee said, "On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad."
"As we celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet, let us recall his life and ideals. May his teachings of universal love and compassion guide each one of us to live in fellowship, harmony and unity. Let us resolve on this day to help the needy and work for the well-being of all," he added.
Eid Milad-Un-Nabi is being celebrated in various parts of the country today.
People decorated houses, shops, streets and markets to celebrate the birth anniversary of the prophet.
Hundreds of people thronged Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar for nightlong prayers, amid chilling cold.
