President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday nominated Supreme Court Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as the Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) with effect from March 7, 2019.
Justice Bobde is the second senior-most judge of the apex court.
Bobde was nominated to the NALSA as Justice AK Sikri, current Executive Chairman of NALSA, will retire on Wednesday.The NALSA was constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to provide free legal services to the weaker sections of the society and organise Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes.
