Indians and Australians will be given the opportunity to forge educational, research and professional links between their two countries after being awarded Australia's most prestigious grants in the Australian higher education and research sector.
Australian High Commissioner Harinder Sidhu congratulated the awardees whom she believed would become over time the new generation of global leaders.
"I congratulate the successful applicants, who have been identified for their potential to boost educational, research and professional links between Australia and India," Ms Sidhu said.
The ten Indians have received Australia Awards - Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships and will study at Australia's top research universities. The two Australians awarded an Executive Fellowship will undertake study at the Public Health Foundation of India.
The Australian Government offers the Australia Awards - Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships to high achieving students, researchers and professionals from around the world to study in Australia's leading education institutions or undertake a professional development program.
The scholarships are internationally-competitive and merit-based. They are administered by the Australian Government's Department of Education and Training.
Some 180 Endeavour scholarships have been offered to international students this year and 98 to Australians to undertake study or research outside of their home country.
The awardees will undertake study or research at vocational, postgraduate, and postdoctoral level or undertake professional development at some of Australia's most prestigious universities in the fields of science, environment, agriculture, health, engineering, hospitality, business, education, law, regional stability and governance, and creative arts.
Applications for the 2018 Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship round open in April 2017.
