President Pranab Mukherjee will host a conference of Vice Chancellors of Central universities, for which he is Visitor, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 4 and 5, 2015.
This is the third time such a conference is being convened by President Mukherjee, with its earlier editions being held in February 2013 and 2014 respectively.
The agenda for this year's conference includes action on previous recommendations; steps to create an eco-system for research and innovation with participation of industry and research institutions; capacity development of faculty, alumni participation, use of technology; deepening of engagement with community; creating international and national networks, adoption of choice based credit system and so on.
Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani, Ministers of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha and Dr Ram Shankar Katheria, University Grants Commission chairman and Vice Chancellors of 39 Central universities are scheduled to attend the conference.
