After Kensington Palace issued a statement on Prince Harry's relationship with actress Meghan Markle, rumours started doing the rounds that his brother Prince William did not support Harry going public about his private life.
Hence, setting the record straight, in another unprecedented moment, the Kensington Palace issued a second statement on Prince William's behalf, to deny the reports.
As per The Telegraph, the statement read, "The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him," reports E! Online.
According to the outlet, the brothers do not release statements such as Harry's without consulting one another.
In the case of the statement regarding Markle, "The two brothers had a heart-to-heart conversation about whether it was right to make a public plea to Internet trolls to stop their 'abuse' of Miss Markle, which also officially confirmed the Prince and Miss Markle were an item."
"The Duke was as alarmed as anyone about what was happening with Meghan," a Royal source added. "No-one wanted to have to put that statement out, including Prince Harry, and there was concern about confirming the relationship. But over the course of one weekend things escalated to the extent that Prince Harry felt he had to act.
