South African coach Russell Domingo has said that his team's return to winning ways has sparked a renewed energy and confidence within them ahead of the third Test against Australia starting at Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday.
The hosts held their first training session at fortress Newlands, where they defeated Australia by eight wickets in 2011, on Wednesday.
According to Sport24, Domingo said that the positive energy has given his squad the edge heading into the deciding Test, and hopes that his players will be able to play to their full potential following their marked improvement in the second Test.
Domingo further said that winning is important for any team, no matter how they try not to emphasise the importance of winning to focus on their processes, adding that the general vibe around the team after a good win has much more energy than after a loss.
Stating that there is a lot of tension, reflection and 'what-ifs' after a loss, Domingo also said that a win emphasises the reasons why a team has been successful and brings in good energy to the side, adding that the South Africans are aware that they have played more to their potential in the second Test match.
Although the report mentioned that the hosts will have to improve their fielding, which has been a let-down in the first two matches, however, Domingo said that South Africa has generally fielded well and taken some great catches, adding that any let down is a part of the game.
