India's quarter-miler Mohd. Anas created a new National record in men's 400m event earlier today at the Poland Senior National Championships in Bydgoszcz (Poland), according to information received from the Indian team management.
Anas clocked 45.44 seconds to erase the existing record of 45.47seconds created by 2014Asian Games Bronze medallist Arokia Rajiv at the 20th Federation Cup on April 28 in New Delhi.
However, Anas missed the Rio qualification berth by 4/100th of a second (OG Qualification mark: 45.40seconds.)
Compatriot Arokia Rajiv clocked 45.89seconds while Mohd. Kunhu finished with 46.24seconds in the race.
In women's 400m event, 2014 Asian Games Bronze medallist M.R. Poovamma clocked her season best timing of 52.31seconds, while Anilda Thomas finished with 52.72seconds and Debashree Majumdar clocked 53.30seconds.
The Rio qualification mark in women's 400m is 52.20seconds.
