Commenting on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's statement that he is ready to take any responsibility given by his party, Janata Dal United (JD-U) leader Ali Anwar on Thursday said that Gandhi was the almighty and the 'prince' of the Congress.
"Everyone knows he is the 'prince' and almighty of the Congress. He is one of the most influential, and powerful leader of the party and will remain so, no matter what," said Anwar.
"As far as declaring Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate for Congress, it is a technical thing. It is their party's internal matter that when should be the PM candidate announced," said Anwar.
Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi for his statement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday had said that Gandhi is going to be declared as the prime ministerial candidate by his party because of his family connection.
BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad ridiculed Rahul Gandhi, and said that the Congress Party cannot think beyond the family.
"Well, Rahul Gandhi making this comment is laughable. He is going to be declared as the PM candidate by his party because of his family connection, as the Congress Party cannot think beyond the family," he told media here today.
"His (Rahul Gandhi) campaign, his political approach, his silence on corruption issues has already been rejected by the people in so many elections," he added.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi said that he is ready to take any responsibility if given, amid reports that Congress is likely to appoint him as its prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming general elections.
