New Delhi [India], July 21 (ANI): Rains lashed parts of the national capital on Sunday afternoon, bringing respite to people from heat and humid weather.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Delhi and adjoining areas on Sunday evening with the possibility of maximum temperatures settling at 27 degree Celsius and 37 degree Celsius respectively.
According to SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting), the air quality in the city is in the moderate category with an index value of 101.
The heavy downpour also caused water-logging and traffic snarls in several parts of the city.
Skymet in a tweet said: "Light to moderate spell of rain and thundershowers will occur at many places over North Delhi, Central Delhi, parts of South Delhi and North West Delhi during the next 2-3 hours."
Besides Delhi, IMD has also predicted extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe. It has also predicted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim.
The weather body has also advised fisherman not to venture out in sea due to rough sea conditions over south Bay of Bengal and southwest and central Arabian Sea.
