Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed the working of the Disaster Management and the Border Management Divisions of the Ministry.

Disaster Management Division briefed the Home Minister regarding the preparedness measures taken by the state governments in the context of the southwest monsoon.

The Home Minister directed that the required coordination with the state governments should be stepped up so that the central ministries are able to extend all possible support to the state governments in disaster response.

Rajnath Singh also directed that all the concerned organisations, including the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Forces, Civil Defense, Home Guards and Fire Services should work together with synergy, so as to minimise the loss of human lives and property during natural disasters.

Border Management Division made a comprehensive presentation about the Land Border security with neighbouring countries. The ongoing border development projects were reviewed.

The Home Minister directed that the Division should prepare an effective development plan of border areas immediately. He mentioned that he will take up the proposal with the concerned Ministries for environmental clearances and infrastructure development.

A separate briefing will be organized for the Home Minister on Coastal Security shortly.
