Randy Jackson, who has been a part of 'American Idol' since its debut in 2002, has announced that he will not be at the judges' table when the show returns in January 2015.
The 58-year-old American bassist said that after 13 seasons, he felt now was the perfect time to leave the show, adding that he is proud to have been a part of a series that discovered some incredible artists, Us Magazine reported.
Jackson added that the show will go down in history as one of the most successful television shows ever.
According to Fox and the producers of Idol's statement Jackson has been such an integral part of American Idol since Day 1, both as a judge and as a mentor and he's provided great advice and support, shaping the success of so many Idols they have discovered over the years.
The statement continued that they wish him all the best in his next chapter as Jackson will always be part of our Idol family, and they hope he'll visit from time to time.
