Rashid Latif insists PCB 'cold-shouldered' him due to England pressure

Former Pakistani captain Rashid Latif has insisted that the report about him being given the 'cold shoulder' by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the chief selector's job due to pressure from England is '99 percent' true.

A report had claimed that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was unhappy with the news of the PCB offering chief selector's job to Latif because it reckoned the former wicketkeeper-batsman had been blunt in supporting Test leg spinner Danish Kaneria on the subject of his life ban imposed by the ECB in a fixing scam.

However, The Nation reports that PCB issues a rebuttal that the report was untrue, although Latif stated that PCB chairman Najam Sethi had told him that as Latif was a 'great supporter' of Kaneria, the board may have problems with the ECB if they appoint him (Latif) as head of anti corruption of PCB.

Latif said that he was only fighting to get justice for Kaneria because he feels that PCB and ECB might have wrongly banned him, adding that he believes it is unfair that PCB is pleading the case of Mohammad Amir despite undeniable evidence of match fixing instead of Kaneria, even though there was only circumstantial evidence against him.
